I was just thinking about anti-hauls and thought it would be fun to do sort of an anti- Waiting on Wednesday type of thing. Books I just don't think I'm ever going to read. Books I don't see myself looking twice at for whatever reason. I thought I'd do a weekly thing where I talk about books I don't want to read as a bit of a refresher. I'm always talking about books I do want to read, but rarely the ones I don't. So consider this week one!
So the first book I don't think I'm ever going to read is The Cuckoo's Calling
Synopsis:
After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: His sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. My Thoughts:
There was a time when I wanted to read this book so bad, but that time has passed. If I had gotten this book when I really did want to read it I would have read it, but it's been too long and the author has just been too horrible for me to even consider reading this now.
On the off chance that you didn't already know, Robert Galbraith is the pen name for J. K. Rowling. If you haven't been paying attention to what she has been doing and saying, I will sum it up. She has just shown time and time again that she doesn't give a shit about active representation and gives even less of a shit about Trans rights. She writes these characters giving them no form of actual representation in her books and then goes on Twitter saying they are LGBTQ+ and all this other garbage, but refuses to actually include this in her books. She just does things that leave me to believe she is a horrible person. I don't want to support that.
Not even taking her into account as the author, this book sounds like something I would rather watch as a movie than something I would read. Therefore I won't be reading this and I doubt I will ever change my mind. This book is nothing special and I can do without it. There are hundreds or even thousands of books that are probably covering the same topics and are just better written. I'm not going to be missing anything from not reading this book.

I have read The Cuckoo's Calling, and I agree it would make a better movie.
