This is proof of the regret we often feel. I relate to this. Sometimes all I ever want to do is go back in time and change something I've done, whether it be a stupid decision or an embarrassing moment. Sometimes all someone ever needs is a second chance.

I love this quote because it speaks the truth. People these days settle for less than they deserve. Self-esteem is such a low set bar. There is that one quote, I don't know where it came from, you know the one, it's like "The saddest people smile the brightest, the loneliest people are the kindest, and the most damaged people are the wisest." I don't think I got that quite right, but the theme ties in with this quote.

I couldn't actually find the quote so this is as close as I could get. My gods, Alec just got so sassy in that last book and I loved it. Loved his newfound confidence. Alec is one of my favourite characters in the Shadowhunter world.

I feel like such an empowered independent woman every time I read this quote, or even the book. This book speaks volumes, especially since this book was written almost 170 years ago, yet these issues are still a thing. I like to think about how far things have come, not as much as I would hope, but still pretty good. Jane Eyre as a character is pretty much summed up in this one quote.

Dr. Seuss is the amazing quotes master. It was so hard to narrow this down to just one Dr. Seuss quote. Seriously, go to google images and search up Dr. Seuss Quotes and I can guarantee you will have a hard time picking a favourite. This one, just inspires me especially which is why I chose it to put it on this list. Love me some Dr. Seuss.

My Thoughts:

I gave this book 5 stars because wow. It was just so well thought out and Kvothe. Man Kvothe was insane. I can't.

I have to say that whenever Kvothe did something like break into the fucking archives, I was so nervous. Like wtf are you trying to get expelled. I can already sense that he is going to get caught in the act or something and get expelled. He just seemed so fearless and could do anything. 

I really hate Ambrose, he was such an asshole. I just wanted Kvothe to put him in his place, I mean it probably happens in the second or third book, but I haven't gotten there yet. I actually really ship Ambrose with Kvothe. Seriously I don't care about Kvothe's lady friend. I just want him to realize that he likes men and hook up with Ambrose. This is like a Harry and Draco situation.

The plot and journey were just amazing, Kvothe has been through so much and it shows in his character. Those parts where he played mind games and just blew me away with his mental capacity. It was like the book equivalent to watching an episode of Sherlock. I sat transfixed, I honestly could not stop reading.

The part with the junky dragon had to be my favourite part.You think I'm kidding? I cannot make this shit up. Who thinks of this? Kvothe and his lady friend fight off a dragon near the end of the book and get the devotion of an entire village. 

 I can't say I laughed a lot by this book or cried, which are usually my two different types of 5 star books, book I felt so connected to the story and the characters that that doesn't even matter. The story kept me engaged, everything that happened was fresh and while reading this. There were some slow moments, but it would quickly become fast paced in no time.

Can I even get started about Auri? She is so adorable and crazy and I love her. She may just be my favourite character in this whole book.  If I had to be any character from this book it would probably be her because she is just a free spirit, I mean she may be half starved and living in the Underthing but at least she seems happy and free. It honestly seems great. She doesn't fit inside the box and I would absolutely love to know about the Undertaking in the next books. The Underthing is this whole world with an entrance under the university, I don't really know much else than that.

I'm really curious about Master Elodin and his Mastery. Naming seems to have a huge part of the whole story, I think it might have a huge plot point in some of the other books, well I know considering it's hinted at that Kvothe knows the name of the wind. I would also love to know what happened to Elodin. So far he is the most interesting Master.

Coffee Book Tag

I was not tagged for this, but then again I never am. I'm just gonna do it because I feel like it.

1. Black: Name a series that's tough to get into but has hardcore fans.

The Lunar Chronicles. I honestly couldn't care less about this book series. Everyone loves it, I just think that it's okay. I just don't think that it's anything to write home about, you know?

2. Peppermint mocha: Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

Let it Snow. It's a book written by three authors, entered around the winter time. The title is literally a winter song title. You can't get more wintery than that.

3. Hot chocolate: What is your favorite children's book?

The Witches. By far my favourite Roald Dahl book. I love his writing, but the Witches is a straight masterpiece. I really need to reread that book. It just brings back all my warm and fuzzy childhood memories and feelings.

4. Double shot of espresso: Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The Iron Trial. I love that book. I read it in basically one sitting. It was just perfect, the amount of action and the angst of the main character was perfectly evened out.

5. Starbucks: Name a book you see everywhere.

Vicious by Victoria Schwab. Everywhere I look, it's there mocking me because I haven't read it yet.

6. That hipster coffee shop: Give a book by an indie author a shoutout

Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. I love this book so much. It has to be one of my top 5 favourite romances. It is just so beautiful. it isn't even really about the romance. It's about love and loss and getting through tough times. I love it.

7. Oops! I accidentally got decaf: Name a book you were expecting more from.

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids. I was so excited for this book. Then I read it and I had excepted something completely different, it just fell flat.

8. The perfect blend: Name a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

Harry Potter, all the deaths made me sad, but they had to be there for the story to reach it's full potential. There is nothing I would change about Harry Potter. i wouldn't be able to find it in myself to do that.

5. Summer Paradise - Simple Plan

When I was reading the Death by Bikini Mysteries, I was listening to this song, I mean the story takes place on this remote island and it just gave me that summery vibe.

4. Someone Like You - Adele

Shiver. When I read Shiver, I was always listening to this song. It had just come out and I was obsessed so I was always listening to it. One time in math class, I was sitting there thinking about the book and had that song stuck in my head at the same time. It was ridiculous.

3. The A Team - Ed Sheeran

Blood Promise. I read this book in like one day and recently, I became obsessed with the A Team and so that was one of the songs. It was just for this one book though. Weird.

2. Set Fire to the Rain - Adele

This one just reminds me of the early House of Night books. Like the first 3 or 4 of them. This was just when I was first getting obsessed with Adele. Which is why she is on here twice, because I started this series like right after Shiver.

I listen to this song and instantly think about Queen of Shadows. Just listen to the song and you'll understand.
