Top 10 Movies That Made Me Want to Read the Book

I've only actually read about half of these books, the other half of this list are all books on my TBR. I'm almost as much of a movie junkie as I am a book junkie so this list was bound to happen.

10. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

I watched this movie years ago and it's been on my TBR for the longest, one day I hope to get to this.

9. Peter Pan

I loved the live action adaptation of this book, it was amazing, so amazing that I decided to read the book. The book was pretty good, not as good as the movie though.

8. Pride and Prejudice

I never actually planned to read this book, but then one day I was just sitting on the couch writing in my journal and I wanted something in the background, I saw that the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice had just started so I decided to watch that. Long story short I ended up loving it and decided to take a crack at the book. Not bad Jane Austen, not bad at all.

7. The Shining

I went through a faze where I needed to prove I wasn't afraid of anything and I had heard that this was an incredibly scary movie. So I watched it, enjoyed it, then decided I wanted to read more of the horror genre so i picked up the book and scared myself by reading it in the middle of the night with the lights off using a flashlight.

6. Girl, Interrupted

I just watched the movie for this and while it wasn't the best, I was absolutely captivated by the characters. I thought about the movie for days after and I want to read the book so badly now. It's a need.

5. Perks of Being a Wallflower

The movie had Emma Watson in it which meant I needed to watch it. Then I ended up loving the movie so much that I went out and bought the book which I also really love. Both the book and the movie are just full of so much heartbreak and they're relatable and I couldn't get enough.

4. Silence of the Lambs

If you looked at my recent post 9 Things About Me, then you'll know that Silence of the Lambs is my favourite movie. So it's a bit of a no brainer that this would be on my list, I need to read the book series.

3. Practical Magic

The book and the movie are so different, but both so phenomenal. Practical Magic was a movie I watched a lot when I was younger and it took me forever to realize it was based off a book. I ended up reading the book more out of curiosity than true desire, but I ended up loving the book so much. I have a review for that in the works actually.

2. Zodiac

Another thing if you've read my post 9 Things About Me, I'm obsessed with unsolved mysteries and the Zodiac Killer is probably my greatest obsession, which is why after watching this movie all I want is to read the book and absorb as much of the details as I possibly can.

1. It

I'm terrified of clowns. So watching the mini series was a bit of a risk. Now I know it's technically a miniseries, but there are two episodes that are the lengths of movies so I'm counting it. I didn't expect to love this miniseries as much as I did, the first half was, in my opinion scarier, if a bit slow, but the second half just had me so invested in the characters lives. I just want to get the book so I can just stay up all night reading it, so I can see if the characters are as great in the book as they were in the mini series.

Which book have you guys read because you enjoyed the movie?

    1. Yeah, I don't think I'll be rereading the book, at least anytime in the near future.
