Excerpt

“Be my girlfriend, Braxton Fawn.”

My head knew what to say. My heart was in my throat. I knew it was coming, and somehow, I was still unprepared. I wanted to say yes. I felt it on my tongue, overwhelmed by green apples. All I had to do was shut my mind away, and I’d be his. There was only one problem.

He was asking too much.

I couldn’t pretend his friends weren’t chasing me too.

I wanted them all equally, but I craved them for different reasons. Houston challenged me, Loren worshiped me, and Rich made me feel like I was worthy of redemption.

I didn’t want to give that up.

This tour would end, but the wreckage they will have left of my heart would be permanent. There was only one way I could survive. One way no one got hurt, and…it was impossible. Almost as hopeless as choosing.

Spoiler-Free Review:

I received an ARC for an honest review

I gave this book 5 stars. It had me hooked from the beginning. There was no point in this book where I didn’t feel like continuing on. Even when things were slow in this book, they were still so full of secrecy. There were four main characters and so much we didn’t know about each of them.

This book is centred around three rockstars, Houston, Loren, and Jericho, and the beginning of their relationship with their new guitarist Braxton. This book was never-ending entertainment. With such a taboo storyline, it couldn’t be dull unless B. B. Reid really tried. This book was endlessly fun and extremely sexy. It would be kind of hard not to be. Onto the characters.

I thought of Braxton as such a badass Heroine. She was such an awesome character, I would read more books about her. She was so complex and was dealing with so much drama. There was drama with her family, there were internal struggles with herself, there was drama concerning her taboo relationship with these men. It’s hard not getting into too much detail because the details of this book beg to be discussed. I will refrain, but you should definitely read this for yourselves to find out.

Now onto the love interests. I’m gonna start with Loren because I think he might be my favourite. I can’t really say for sure, but I did really like him. He was the one who pissed me off the most, but he was also the one who I think was the most fun out of the three. He was the entertainment of the book. Very bold personality. He did some things that made me angry but in the end, I couldn’t really hold it against him.

Now onto Houston, he was the angry broody one full of mystery. He’s a stereotypical bad boy and if I had read this even three years ago, he probably would have been my favourite. I’ve gotten to a point where the broodiness doesn’t really do as much for me as it used to. I will take funny and ridiculous over broody any day. Not to say I didn’t like Houston. I also do think he has a decent reason to be the broody one.

Finally on to Jericho. He had the most to hide and definitely had the best facade. You would never believe this guy would hide anything and I think that’s why he kind of scares me the most. He’s not like a “nice guy” he’s actually genuinely a nice guy but the guy has a closet full of secrets. I can’t really say much more without actually getting into the details of his storyline.

This book covered a lot of fucked up things. Honestly, so many things had me taken aback. These are obviously spoilers but honestly, be prepared for some not so savoury things happening. There are some really disturbing things that happen to characters. There is never anything explicit, but I feel like I should give a trigger warning in case you are very sensitive to sexually traumatic things. I would like to reiterate that there is never anything explicit, but things are mentioned.

Overall, this book was really sexy and fun to read. I would highly recommend it. If you’ve loved this author's works in the past and are interested in reading something a bit more risqué then definitely give this one a try.

The Halloween Book Tag

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this but Halloween is my favourite day of the year. October is my favourite month of the year. It's like a whole month of Halloween. I haven't really gotten to enjoy Halloween as much the last couple of years since I've been so busy, but since everything is online for school this year and I'm not working that much I've been really gotten into everything this year. I bought two ceramic pumpkins. And one glass one. That was just a really long-winded way of me saying that I'm incredibly excited about Halloween this year and I'm really excited to do this tag. From what I have gathered this tag was created by Book Adventures, a blog that I don't think exists anymore. I found a blog called Book Adventures but I'm fairly sure it isn't the same blog. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Now onto the tag!

1.) Favourite Scary (Must Read) For Halloween?

The Shining. It's classic. It's the only book that has ever truly scared me.

2.) Scariest Book Cover, Like Ever?

It. Simply because I am afraid of clowns and I hate looking at them.

3.) If You Could Go Trick-or-Treating With Any Author, Who Would You Pick?

I really don't know how to answer this one because I really don't think I would want to go trick or treating with a stranger. That sounds kind of awkward to me. Maybe Penelope Douglas, I think she could make things interesting.

4.) If You Could Dress Up As Any Bookish Character For Halloween, Who Would You Be?

Beth Harmon from the Queens Gambit. I haven't read the book yet, but I did just watch the Limited series on Netflix and it was amazing. I would love to dress up like her. I loved her look.

5.) If You Could Find Anything (From Any Book) In Your Trick-or-Treat Stash, What Would You Hope To Find?

A time turner. I feel like I never have enough time to do things so I would love to be able to go back in time just so I could have more time to do things.

6.) In What Fictional World Would You Like To Go Trick-or-Treating?

Not to beat a dead horse, but the Wizarding World because they have so much cool shit. The second choice would be the Shadowhunter world. I'd probably end up with some Fairy edibles or something.

7.) What Book Villain Would You Not Like To Meet Alone In A Dark Alley On Halloween?

Robert Livingstone from the Green Creek series. That dude freaks me out. I'm just imagining this gross one-eyed creature that wants to rip my guts out. Terrifying.

8.) Would You Rather Dress Up As A Vampire, Zombie, Werewolf, or Shadowhunter?

I have done this several times already, but I love dressing up as a vampire. I have those fake fangs that are perfectly moulded to my teeth too. They give me a lisp but I love wearing them.

9.) Pick A Candy (Just One) From Harry Potter That You Would Love To Find In Your Stash?

Chocolate Frogs.  I always wanted to try those. They sounded and looked so good and would be really interesting to eat. Or just to have around.

Horror Movie Recommendations

I know this is a book blog, but I'm ready for Halloween. Here are some of my favourite horror movies because we are in spooky season.

Us

One of the best horror movies I have ever seen. While Get Out was also a really good horror film, I felt like Us was more of classic horror but remade better. It's a must-see.

It

As you may well know I am terrified of Clowns. So I really enjoyed these movies and thought they were a decent amount of scary. They also had really interesting subplots.

The Babysitter duology

These two movies are so fun to watch. They are bad but know that they are bad. I just had the best time watching these two movies. The humour was exceptional. They weren't trying to take themselves too seriously and I loved that. If you want to watch a horror movie that's more fun, I would highly recommend these two.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Johnny Depp in this movie is a snack. Also, this is one of my favourite classic horror movies. It's got such a unique concept and the scary part of this movie is the characters' inability to actually escape.

Happy Death Day

This movie is on a similar wavelength as the Babysitter movies. It was something that didn't take itself too seriously. Would highly recommend this one.

Unsane

This movie was so horrible to watch because it could have happened to anyone. This is a movie about a woman who is put into a mental institute even though she doesn't need to be there. She needs to fend off her stalker that no one believes her about in the meantime. I believe it's also shot on an iPhone to make it feel more uncomfortable. If you're more into psychological horror this one is it.

Top 10 Favourite Authors Updated

I did a post about this about 3 years ago. I recently came across the post again and realized it was pretty out of date. Because of recent developments (AKA transphobia), I have had to boot J. K. Rowling from this list. I’m not even sorry about it. While I will always love Harry Potter, I don’t have to like her. It’s time for an updated favourite author's post.

10. T. J. Klune

His humour is unmatched. I do read his books for the stories, the romance, but more importantly, because he is so funny. Read the Lightning-Struck Heart. It is so long but so funny. The first time I read it I thought it was too long, but then I kept going back and rereading it. His book Wolfsong is one of my favourites of all time. Just one of my favourite authors, I would read anything he released.

9. Cora Reilly

Are her books the pinnacle of good writing? Not necessarily. Do I enjoy the fuck out of her books? Yes. She's one of those authors who I eagerly wait for release dates from. I will actually put release dates for some of her books on my calendar because I get so excited for them. She writes a really good morally grey character and as you may know, those are my favourite.

8. Jennifer L. Armentrout

While I do feel like I enjoy her books a little less than I did when I was 13, I still really love her books. I will continue reading them and I don't see that stopping. She always gives me plots and characters I love, and while the writing is a bit more juvenile, I don't think I will ever come to a point where I don't want to read her books anymore. She has a special place in my heart.

7. Amanda Bouchet

I have read 3 and a half books from her and I just know she is one of my favourite authors. If you are at that age where you no longer feel like you want to be reading about teenagers but you want something in a similar style to YA, her writing is probably for you. Her characters are generally in their twenties, her books have these great plots, great romances. I can't get enough of them. I read A Promise of Fire on a whim, I started it when I had a long break between classes and I read the entire thing in one sitting. It is one of my favourite books of all time and she is one of my favourite authors.

6. B. B. Reid

I've been reading her books for a few years now and if you've noticed I never miss a chance to be part of her blog tours. It means I get to read her books early and review them and gush about them. She is so good at writing romances I want to read. They always have a bit of an edge, they have these morally grey characters, and I can't get enough. I'm a sucker for romance novels, but especially the ones she writes.

5. Stephen King

I've been reading Stephen King books since I was 13. One of my probably unattainable life goals is to read every book and short story he has ever written. I can tell you right now, that will never happen. The man writes faster than I can read, plus he's had about 40 years of a head start on me. It won't stop me from trying though.

4. Colleen Hoover

You know. You know. This is a special case right here. I have to be in a very specific mood to read one of her books and when I am in that mood and read one of those books, they change me. These books make me view the world in a different way. Some good, some bad. Soon I plan on actually ranking her books from my least favourite to my favourites. I've been working on it, and I want it to be a good post. I can't rush perfection.

3. Penelope Douglas

I read everything this woman releases. My favourite series by far is her Devil's Night series. Before I liked her books, but this series right here made me love her books. I don't think I've ever loved a set of characters the way that I loved these characters. I loved every single one of those characters. Only pure talent could write characters I loved that much.

2. Sarah J Maas

I'm obsessed with her books. I think everyone may be obsessed with her books. She is the queen of high fantasy. I can't wait to see what she does in the future, I can't wait for the second part of her ACOTAR series. I am impatiently waiting.

1. Cassandra Clare

The way I've seen her writing improve over the years is astounding. This is a true case of someone who has taken advice and worked to improve her writing and it shows me how serious she is about her writing. She writes characters we love and characters that are on the fence and characters we absolutely hate. She ties in current events, she makes things interesting. Her books are the perfect package. I've never had so much respect for an author before.
