Top 10 Favorite Main Characters of 2019

Now, this list is in no particular order, I love all of them. As I was writing this post, half of it didn't save, so all of my beautiful beautiful words are now replaced by cheap imitations. Enjoy.

1. Raven

This is the anomaly of this list. I actually liked all the other books on this list, but I hated the Boys of Brayshaw High. Like I read it, gave it four stars, then the longer I sat on it the more I disliked it. I ended up giving it 1.5 stars. The thing that kept me from giving this book 1 star is that I liked Raven. She is so funny and has so much personality. Honestly, I would take a book of Raven just being Raven, I don't care for any of the other characters or any of the other plot points.

2. Cat Fisa

You guys know how much I love badass leading ladies. Cat is probably the most badass lady on this list.

3. Baz

The lone guy on this list. You guys know how much I love Baz. He's the snarkiest character on this list. He is so antagonistic sometimes, yet he is so devoted to Simon. I just love that balance.

4. Serafina

While I love a badass lady who can take care of herself, I also love the silently strong types. The ladies that although they may not be able to physically fight off attackers, are powerful inside. Serafina was was graceful and poised and didn't take shit.

5. Audrey Rose

Audrey Rose is a high-class lady living in the Victorian Era who wants to be a medical examiner. Everyone tells her she shouldn't be doing this and it isn't ladylike, but she doesn't let this stop her from pursuing her passion. I love this about her. I'm not a very ambitious person, but I wholeheartedly support women with ambitions. I love that she won't allow societal norms to get in the way of what she wants to do with her life.

6. Jude

Jude has my unending respect. It takes a special kind of heroine to put up with someone like Cardan. I like Cardan but he's a tricky asshole. Jude was willing to do whatever it took to get where she wanted to be and to protect those that she loved.

7. Merit

Merit Merit Merit. A lot of people did not like her. I think this might have been one of Colleen Hoover's least well-received books, but I loved it. I loved Merit. Throughout the entire story, I kept putting myself in Merit's shoes and thinking to myself "I get it. I feel that". I always love her books, but Merit spoke to me in a way that I haven't had since I read Hopeless.

8. Mackenzie

I felt like I related to Mackenzie so much. As someone who has a sister that I am close with I know what it's like to hate her so much at times and then also be best friends. I feel like I could really relate to Mackenzie because I could really understand how her thought process works.

9. Brenna

Brenna was just such a fun character to read about. She was full of confidence but still had her issues. She's also hilarious might I add. Of all of Elle Kennedy's main characters, Brenna has been my favourite.

10. Lennix Moon Hunter

Lennix is just as cool as her name. She's Apache and very proud of the fact. I feel like a lot of the times when there is an Indigenous person in a romance novel, they're just very watered down. You never forget who Lennix is. Her entire story arc is about her love for her people and her determination to stop them from getting screwed over. I have all the respect for Lennix Moon Hunter.

Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.
And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?
Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of eighteen. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore. And as a part of them.
And she also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.
One of them has her.

Top 10 Book Boyfriends of 2019

I was hoping to have more posts this holiday season but I seem to still be experiencing a bit of writer's block. I have so many reviews that I would love to write and it just isn't happening. I guess these end of the year top 10 lists are going to have to do for now. Hopefully, in the new year, I will finally be able to write something else. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy my list!

10. Jamie Buchanan

Jamie Jamie Jamie. I've been so excited about him. He has been the most exciting character in this series from day one. I don't know how anyone could not love him. If you haven't read B. B. Reid's When Rivals Play series yet you definitely should. It's on Kindle Unlimited.

9. Cardan

Cardan is just so mischievous. He's so cunning and spiteful. Honestly, he never does what you'd expect. He was also surprisingly passionate towards Jude at times and every time that happened I got butterflies.

8. Jake Connelly

I was so excited to read his book. Honestly, I'm surprised I waited as long as I did to finally read it. When I finally got it I had such a good time. He is so swoon-worthy.  If you guys are into sports romances, Jake Connelly is the perfect hero for you.

7. King Tiras

This one caught me by surprise. When I started reading this book I didn't realize he was going to be the hero. He seemed like he was possibly going to be an antagonist at first and as you guys know, those are my favourites. He ended up being just my favourite Amy Harmon character to date.

6. Baz King

Baz had me dead. From the second we met him in Kiss Me With Lies, he had me hook, line, and sinker. If I had actually decided to put quotes in this post I would have had to skip Baz because like I said in my last post, I like to keep some of the sexiness a surprise. There is almost nothing Baz said in this book that wasn't incredibly sexy.

5. Thomas Cresswell

If you guys read my Top 10 Ships of 2019 post then you would know how I feel about Thomas Cresswell already. Even if you guys aren't that interested in Jack the Ripper, but like roguish heroes, then I would say give this book a try. Thomas is so intelligent and witty. And he's a terrible flirt. He would spit out these lines that had me smiling and laughing. I wouldn't even mind living in the Victorian Era if I had a Thomas Cresswell.

4. Griffin

Griffin was irresistible. From the moment we meet him in this first book to his last moments in the third book. He is just the perfect man. I don't even remember how I came across this book, but I am so grateful that I did because it has quickly become one of my all-time favourites. Griffin is one of the reasons it's one of my favourites.

3. Carter Mahoney

Carter and his book just came out of nowhere and slapped me across the face. I don't think I should have like them as much as I did.

2. Remo Falcone

I new Remo was gonna be my favourite character in this series. You know, I can sene these things. In the other series, Matteo was my favourite and when Remo was first introduced he reminded me of Matteo. Now I know they are very different, but I still love Remo very much. He does such wicked things.

1. Damon Torrance

I love Damon. So sue me. I love villains and antiheroes. Damon is just so bad sometimes and I love him. He was almost immediately the villain of this series and there is nothing I love more than a sexy villain. Or antihero in his case.

Which book characters would you guys 100% date if they were real?

Top 10 Ships of 2019

Instead of studying for my finals that are in a couple of days I'm writing these Top 10 posts. My priorities are not straight. Well, I hope you guys enjoy this at least.

10. Cardan and Jude

“Kiss me again,” he says, drunk and foolish. “Kiss me until I am sick of it.” - Holly Black

I really love hate-to-love romances. There is just so much angst and sexual tension and I can never get enough of it. I devoured The Wicked King in two days. I had actually gotten an ARC of it, then didn't get around to reading it, then I bought the hardcover. I only just now got the time to finally read it and to move onto The Queen of Nothing. I'm living for these two and just sitting here hoping they can make it work.

9. Thomas and Audrey Rose

“I’d like to see you carry on with a corset digging its bones into your rib cage,” I said, returning the favor and eyeing his clothing. “And manage a skirt still covering most of your breeches and whipping around your thighs in this wind.”
“If you’d like to see me out of my breeches, simply ask, Wadsworth. I’m more than happy to accommodate you on that front.”
“Scoundrel.” - Kerri Maniscalco

Thomas is not fit to live in the Victorian Era. If this book was set in present-day and this was not a YA novel, Thomas Cresswell would definitely have charmed the pants off Audrey Rose by now. Their flirtation makes me blush. I honestly love them together so much. It brings me so much joy whenever Thomas scandalizes Audrey. It's just the perfect dynamic.

8. Marcus and Emma

I didn't realize I loved these two as much as I did until I went to work after finishing this and couldn't stop thinking about them the whole time. I can't wait for their book to come out. Also if you're wondering why I didn't use a quote for this one like I did for the others it's because literally, every good quote I could pull was filthy. I like to hint at the sexy, not give it all away. If you guys want sexy you're gonna have to read this one yourselves;)

7. Wren and Lou

“I’m the moth to your flame, Lou. I’d rather be burned a thousand times than be free of you.” - B. B. Reid

While their book was not my favourite of B. B. Reid's, I still loved them as a couple. I love their friendship and I love the tension between them. I always appreciate a slow burn romance and this was a great example of that.

6. Bonnie and Finn

“I don’t want to be without you, Bonnie! Don’t you get that? I am in love with you! I’ve known you for one week. And I’m in love with you! Crazy, drive-off-a-cliff-if-you-asked-me-to, in love with you. But I don’t want to drive off a cliff! I want to live with you! Do you want that? Or do you still think about jumping off bridges and going down in a hail of bullets?” - Amy Harmon

These two... Everything about their relationship just worked. I fell in love with their relationship. I loved them as characters on their own and I loved them even more together.

5. Noura and Banks

“In love there’s no free will. That’s how I know it’s real. I couldn’t stop it and I can’t deny it. This is it for me.” - R. K. Lilley

Much like with number 8, I read this book and thought to myself "four stars". And then I kept rereading it because their story was everything, so I had to go back and give them five stars. R. K. Lilley is really good at writing relationships like that.

4. Carter and Zoey

“You know when you’re going to be decidedly less amused? When I’m sendin’ you to the store at 3am because I’m craving a certain brand of pickles.”
Carter takes a step back, rolls his eyes at me again, and grabs his plate. “Come on, wifey.”
“And my back is already aching from carrying around your spawn. I hope you’re plannin’ to give me a back rub later.”
“Are your feet swelling up, too? Maybe I should just buy you a whole spa day.”
“I mean, it’s the least you could do for the mother of your child.” - Sam Mariano

This book was long but it didn't feel long. Carter and Zoey's chemistry made this book feel like it was way shorter than it was.

3. Remo and Serafina

“We were both caught in an undercurrent, dragging us down into its unforgiving depth, unable to swim to the surface on our own. The only people who could save us only wanted to save one of us and see the other drown, but we were entangled. One of us would have to let go first to reach the surface.” - Cora Reilly

They were everything that I was hoping for and more. I had the release of their book written down on my calendar and I bought this book at midnight. I was dedicated because I knew their book would be fire. And firey it was. I love how the author is really playing with the dynamics of this world in the Camorra series. She set all these traditions and rules in her other series and she's breaking them one by one in this series. I loved everything about their relationship.

2. Damon and Winter

“Enjoy your freedom while it lasts, Winter Ashby, because we’re not done,” Damon warned in a low voice that snaked through my ear, taunting me. “Grow up, learn things, and have fun in high school, but don’t change the little girl who loves it ‘in the black’, because I like you there, too. And I will be back for what’s mine when you’re old enough for bigger things.” - Penelope Douglas

I loved this couple. They just work together, it's like they were made for each other. Honestly, I would have loved them whether or not I actually liked Winter because I just love Damon so much. He's definitely my favourite of the horseman. I did like Winter, however. They might have made it to number 1 if Winter had been my favourite character from the series, but that will always be Banks. I love Banks.

1. Griffin and Cat

“Let go,” I demand.
 “No.”
My eyebrows snap together.
 “Why not?”
“Because your gut reaction is always to punch, and I don’t like being tickled.”
Tickled? Tickled! Indignation swamps me. I’ll show him a tickle. - Amanda Bouchet

These two really came out of nowhere in the last few months before the end of the year. I was fully expecting to put one of the previous three couples at number one, but these two just blindsided me. I have no words other than: power couple.

Who would you guys say was your favourite book couple of 2019?

Top 10 Movies of 2019

I know I've been very absent as of late. I realized I am very bad at time management and juggling classes and other aspects of my life. As I am nearing the end of this semester of school I will hopefully have time to post more. If not, I am determined to post my top 10 posts recapping this year in this last month before 2020. That's my goal.

10. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I don't like westerns. So every time this movie would go into western mode I got so incredibly bored. Despite this, it was still a Tarantino movie so in other words, it was pretty good. The last 20 minutes of the movie made it all worth it.

9. Hustlers

I didn't really want to go see this one, but my friends did so I went. I surprisingly really enjoyed it. I just kept thinking about it after and once I went home I actually found the article it was based on and it was really interesting. If any of you are interested I'll link it here.

8. On the Basis of Sex

I didn't know a ton about Ruth Bader Ginsberg before going into this movie, and apparently, it doesn't even capture all the amazing things that she has done. However, I thought it was such an awesome movie. It really let me get to know her as someone who doesn't live in the U.S. and doesn't know a lot about famous figures there. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is my hero and I hope to learn more about her.

7. It: Chapter 2

I really don't want to spoil things, but considering this is Stephen King, you have to know that someone is going to die. Well, this one character (not naming names), I knew they were going to die but man I was hoping like hell they would just leave it out of this movie. It made me very sad.

6. Endgame

A lot of people had some really mixed feelings about this movie, but I loved it. I cried. Honestly, go through all of my blog posts and take a shot every time I say I cried. I feel like after the chaos of Infinity War and there just being so many characters, this movie really focused back onto those core Avengers that we've loved since the beginning. It gave us more time with them before some of them left for good.

5. Spider-man: Far From Home

I must have liked this movie since I went to see it in theatres 3 times. I didn't just go to go, by the way, I had three different friends who asked me to go see it with them on 3 separate occasions. I have the movie memorized. I just thought this was the perfect movie to come out after Endgame. It catered to all these things we were wondering after the events of Endgame and how Peter was coping with this. Along with some MJ. I love MJ.

4. Captain Marvel

This movie was so badass. I loved Brie Larson in this movie. I loved that we got to see how the Avengers initiative came to be. I love that we got to see a young Nick Fury and find out how he got his scar. I just loved everything about this movie.
3. Us

I'm just a regular lover of horror films these days. This is the best one I've seen this year. Jordan Peele has a way of bringing unique ideas to an oversaturated genre. He makes fun of horror movie tropes but doesn't overdo it. I don't think I've ever seen a horror film quite like it. A bonus was the score. Whoever did the soundtrack for this movie needs a raise.

2. Good Boys

This movie had me dying. Seth Rogen was one of the producers so you have to know it's gonna be funny. There is something just so hysterical about children + adult humour. I'm a sucker for coming of age movies as you will be able to tell because both my first and second picks on this list are just that. Perfect. This movie was perfect. And so very, very funny.

1. Booksmart

Booksmart was this intelligent, funny, and accurate description of being in high school. Except maybe a bit at the end. I just felt so connected to this movie in my soul. I honestly did nothing fun in high school and now I'm trying to make up for it. The humour in this movie was on the verge of a bit crude, but also clever. It really knows who it's viewers are and it caters to them well. I can't wait till I can watch this one again. It's a gem.
