Top 10 Movies of 2019

I know I've been very absent as of late. I realized I am very bad at time management and juggling classes and other aspects of my life. As I am nearing the end of this semester of school I will hopefully have time to post more. If not, I am determined to post my top 10 posts recapping this year in this last month before 2020. That's my goal.

10. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I don't like westerns. So every time this movie would go into western mode I got so incredibly bored. Despite this, it was still a Tarantino movie so in other words, it was pretty good. The last 20 minutes of the movie made it all worth it.

9. Hustlers

I didn't really want to go see this one, but my friends did so I went. I surprisingly really enjoyed it. I just kept thinking about it after and once I went home I actually found the article it was based on and it was really interesting. If any of you are interested I'll link it here.

8. On the Basis of Sex

I didn't know a ton about Ruth Bader Ginsberg before going into this movie, and apparently, it doesn't even capture all the amazing things that she has done. However, I thought it was such an awesome movie. It really let me get to know her as someone who doesn't live in the U.S. and doesn't know a lot about famous figures there. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is my hero and I hope to learn more about her.

7. It: Chapter 2

I really don't want to spoil things, but considering this is Stephen King, you have to know that someone is going to die. Well, this one character (not naming names), I knew they were going to die but man I was hoping like hell they would just leave it out of this movie. It made me very sad.

6. Endgame

A lot of people had some really mixed feelings about this movie, but I loved it. I cried. Honestly, go through all of my blog posts and take a shot every time I say I cried. I feel like after the chaos of Infinity War and there just being so many characters, this movie really focused back onto those core Avengers that we've loved since the beginning. It gave us more time with them before some of them left for good.

5. Spider-man: Far From Home

I must have liked this movie since I went to see it in theatres 3 times. I didn't just go to go, by the way, I had three different friends who asked me to go see it with them on 3 separate occasions. I have the movie memorized. I just thought this was the perfect movie to come out after Endgame. It catered to all these things we were wondering after the events of Endgame and how Peter was coping with this. Along with some MJ. I love MJ.

4. Captain Marvel

This movie was so badass. I loved Brie Larson in this movie. I loved that we got to see how the Avengers initiative came to be. I love that we got to see a young Nick Fury and find out how he got his scar. I just loved everything about this movie.
3. Us

I'm just a regular lover of horror films these days. This is the best one I've seen this year. Jordan Peele has a way of bringing unique ideas to an oversaturated genre. He makes fun of horror movie tropes but doesn't overdo it. I don't think I've ever seen a horror film quite like it. A bonus was the score. Whoever did the soundtrack for this movie needs a raise.

2. Good Boys

This movie had me dying. Seth Rogen was one of the producers so you have to know it's gonna be funny. There is something just so hysterical about children + adult humour. I'm a sucker for coming of age movies as you will be able to tell because both my first and second picks on this list are just that. Perfect. This movie was perfect. And so very, very funny.

1. Booksmart

Booksmart was this intelligent, funny, and accurate description of being in high school. Except maybe a bit at the end. I just felt so connected to this movie in my soul. I honestly did nothing fun in high school and now I'm trying to make up for it. The humour in this movie was on the verge of a bit crude, but also clever. It really knows who it's viewers are and it caters to them well. I can't wait till I can watch this one again. It's a gem.

  1. I've only seen 2 out of these (Spiderman and Captain Marvel), but I really want to watch Booksmart and of course Hustlers.
