Star Rating

I decided I wanted to get a little more in depth with my star ratings. So I'm gonna go over each star and what it means for me personally. I've been sitting on this blog post idea for some time now and finally got around to doing it. Let's start off positive shall we!

5 Stars

5 stars means I absolutely love this book. It had me on the edge of my seat I was completely engaged by all the characters and the plot of the book and it possibly changed my life in the process. Or it changed my mind about what good literature is. It might have even been different in a good way that made me rethink everything.

4 Stars

4 stars means I had an enjoyable experience reading this book. It wasn't the best thing in the world, it did have flaws, but the flaws were smaller. I may not have liked all the characters I was supposed to, but that didn't effect the rating much or my enjoyment of the collective. Probably has a few plot holes that bothered me a bit. Did not blow my mind.

3 Stars

3 stars means the story was okay. I didn't have an impossible time getting through it, but it wasn't exactly a quick read. The story is probably pretty generic and full of used up tropes. I most likely won't remember the plot of this book after a few months. Or weeks. Just isn't that memorable to me.

2 Stars

2 stars means I did not have a good time reading this book. It probably took a long time and I didn't care much about the story or the characters. It's like chewing cardboard. Absolutely pointless. This book made no impact on my life and I probably won't think about it ever again except to think about how annoyed I am about having wasted my time on reading it.

1 Star

1 star means that it probably offended me. Or disgusted me. Or had a very negative impact on my psychological well being. These books don't happen a lot, but when they do I will never forget them. As much as I would love to wipe all these books from my memory, I'm probably never going to get them out because of the negative impact they had after reading them. There is also the option that the writing was so atrocious that I legit couldn't finish the book so I just gave it a one star and never looked back.

How do you guys rate your books?
